Trauma Tapping Technique
During and after the corona virus pandemic what has been seen, heard and felt will be very distressing for many. These personal experiences and memories with colleagues, patients, their families and your own family lead to many emotions and feelings including anxiety, stress, fear, anger, frustration, sadness, hopelessness, uncertainty and grief.
I want to help…I will continue to offer free support in the form of sharing a specific trauma tapping technique for self-care to help reduce the emotional intensity and calm your nervous system down during traumatic times. It can be used anytime, before, during and after work.
I am a qualified EFT Practitioner; Emotional Freedom Techniques or ‘tapping’. EFT is a complementary treatment used to relieve emotional and physical issues. It is a scientifically proven practice, which sends a calming signal to the amygdala, the part of the brain that controls stress levels by reducing cortisol, the stress hormone.
I will lead and share this specific trauma technique. You do not need any EFT/tapping experience, as this is simply for self-care, not a clinical session. It is safe, short, simple, calming and no words are necessary.
It involves gentle, fingertips tapping on acupressure points on the body while lightly tuned into the issue at hand. You can then practice anytime, safely (If it is not safe to use the face points at the time of need, there are others points to use). It can be appropriately adapted for individuals and situations. It’s like having ‘Emotional first aid at your fingertips’.
