Hello, I’m Elaine.

My Dog Matters grew from my wellbeing work with people, and from the bond I share with my own dog, Gracie.

After seeing Gracie’s experience of gentle wellbeing sessions, I wanted to offer that individual attention to other dogs. I undertook further training and certification to extend my practice as a Certified Animal Practitioner.

My approach is warm, patient and led by your dog. I pay attention to their body language, give them space and take time to build trust.

Why Gracie inspired this work

After Gracie’s spay surgery, I saw how important familiar surroundings, patience and gentle care were to her. My experience with her inspired me to undertake further training and certification so I could extend my wellbeing work to other dogs.

That experience stays with me in every session: your dog is a much-loved member of your family, with their own personality, history and ways of communicating.

My background and experience

My own experience of debilitating illness led me to train in wellbeing support and establish My Health Matters. Alongside private practice, my experience includes work in public mental health services and corporate organisations.

My training includes wellbeing coaching, advanced Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Reiki, alongside my certification as an Animal Practitioner. My work with people has taught me to listen carefully, look at the individual and build an open, trusting relationship.

I bring that same compassion and individual attention to My Dog Matters, and continue to develop my knowledge and practice.

How I get to know your dog

Before a first visit, your Dog Profile Form helps me understand your dog’s history, daily routine and what you would like support with. We can discuss the approach and your questions before arranging a session.

During a visit, I pay close attention to body language and responses. Your dog can move away, take a break or settle nearby; I adapt the session to their willingness to take part.

Sessions are complementary wellbeing support and do not replace veterinary assessment or treatment.

Supporting both ends of the lead

I recognise how important the relationship between you and your dog is. My Dog Matters provides a dedicated space for dog wellbeing, while My Health Matters is home to my work with people.

You are welcome to enquire just about your dog, or talk with me about support for you both.

Let’s talk about your dog.

Tell me a little about them, and we can explore the next step together.
