Reiki is a natural healing technique of energy balancing for the purpose of pain management, stress reduction and relaxation. The treatment activates the body’s natural ability to heal itself by releasing blockages, suppressed emotions and toxins in order to restore balance and health. It is a holistic complementary treatment alongside conventional and natural medicine.

A gentle hands-on treatment involving my hands being placed on or above the energy centres of the body. A whole body treatment covers the entire system of endocrine glands and their associated inner organs. A specific treatment covers a certain body area or health problem. It is a gentle yet powerful healing technique which benefits the whole person on all levels; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

It was developed by Dr Mikao Usui in Japan, pronounced “Ray Key” it translates Universal Life Energy. A Reiki Practitioner has been taught and attuned in order to practice in Reiki energy healing. There are no known contraindications or side effects with Reiki, no religious or belief systems involved but simply a spiritual practice. It is therefore beneficial and safe to all regardless of age or state of health.

Benefits of Reiki

Reiki has many health benefits which are especially relevant in modern lifestyle. There are three types of stress; physical, emotional and chemical, whether from injury, physical or emotional trauma, lifestyle, toxicity or nutritional depletion through diet. They all effect our nervous system and subsequently show up as health problems. To quote top cellular biologists Dr Bruce Lipton ‘95% of ALL illness is caused by stress’.

Scientific evidence supports the effectiveness of energy medicine and energy psychology which is based on the physical aspect of the meridian system called the PVS; primo vascular system. The clinical research shows Reiki treatments are effective for pain management, stress reduction, lowering blood pressure and speeding up wound healing time.

Some of the Reiki Benefits:

  • Pain relief for acute injury and chronic problems
  • Deep relaxation and stress reduction therefore aids sleep
  • Speeds up the body’s natural self healing process
  • Supports the immune system
  • Assists in detoxifying the body
  • Helps balance the endocrine system (hormonal and emotional)
  • Clears the mind and improves focus
  • Preventative healthcare for illness and fatigue
  • Reduce some side effects of drugs and aids recovery from drug therapy after surgery and chemotherapy

Therefore Reiki is now part of many orthodox healthcare treatment plans and also a preventative measure used in various health settings and organisations. It is not an alternative to conventional medicine.

Reiki Treatment

A Reiki treatment is a non-invasive, gentle and relaxing experience. The recipient remains fully clothed, while comfortably sitting or laying down on a couch and relaxing music can be listened to.

My hands are placed on or above the client’s body non-intrusively at various positions and energy centres, usually starting at the head and finishing at the feet. Clients typically report feeling warmth or heat coming from my hands and various other sensations such as tingling or slight twitching due to relaxation, or an emotional release of tears or laughter, others report no sensations at all. However Reiki is still working regardless. Each person’s experience is unique to them.

  • A treatment will last up to one hour.
  • After a treatment it is advisable to drink plenty of water in order to flush out toxins from the body.

Acute illness can be helped very quickly, more chronic problems may take multiple treatments to allow the body to reach a level of relaxation necessary to bring the system back into balance and heal itself. Long-term whole body treatments help to restore overall health and wellbeing. Initially six treatments are recommended.
